The extra foot of length keeps line off the water for a genuinely drag-free drift, and the soft tip both registers takes and protects light tippet when a good fish eats at close range. If you fish tailwaters or pocket water and have been reading about tight-line nymphing, this is the tool that makes it work. Four-piece with tube and sock. It will cast a dry fly, but you will not enjoy it.
