Will Crane with his Argentine guide on the water in Patagonia

The story behind guía

Born on the water.
Built for the people
who live there.

Will Crane · Founder

I grew up fishing whenever I could. Learned more from one day with the right guide than from years on my own.

I traveled to Patagonia and Colorado specifically to fish with people who knew those rivers. Both trips were the best I ever had. Both times I found the guide the same way — someone at the fly shop knew someone who knew someone else.

That system works if you know the right people. But there's a gifted guide somewhere on every river in North America who nobody outside their local community has ever heard of. They don't have a booking page. They're not on any list.

They're running a world-class operation on reputation alone and leaving real money on the table — not because they're not good enough, but because the tools to find them simply don't exist yet. guía is an attempt to fix that.

Why we exist

"For the guides who deserve to be found. And for the people who are genuinely trying to find them."

What we believe

"The close-knit, word-of-mouth culture of fly fishing isn't a problem to solve. It's exactly what makes this world worth building for."

We're not trying to turn guiding into an Airbnb. We want great guides to have a real business — one that doesn't require spending evenings answering the same questions over text.

If you're a guide or an angler, you already know what a great guided trip is worth. We built guía for the people who know that, on both sides of the drift boat.

For guests

Find who you need, book it, done.

Browse verified, licensed guides with real reviews and live availability. Whether you're planning a bucket-list Patagonia trip or a last-minute float two states over.

For guides

Focus on the water, not the inbox.

You got into guiding because you love the water — not because you wanted a booking system. guía handles the calendar, payments, tips, and guest management so you can focus on what you're actually good at.

The name

Guía means guide in Spanish — a nod to the rivers of Patagonia and to the people down there who showed us what great guiding looks like in the first place.
